Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous? This mornings obsession: creepy nursery rhymes.

They are truly fascinating and delightfully disturbing.

For some reason the rhyme “Frere Jacques” popped into my head and I began to google it, madly,  because I KNEW it meant something other than what it appears to mean on the surface and because, typically,  behind every seemingly innocent nursery rhyme is something dark most often in reference to suffering and death; plagues and funerals… lovely delicious stuff.

Also, the notice the tunes that go along with these rhymes…go on, pick one, hum it to yourself.. see what I mean?

“London Bridge is falling down,
Falling down, Falling down.
London Bridge is falling down,
My fair lady.”

yeah, that’s fucking pleasant… theory:  “the song refers to the burying, perhaps alive, of children in the foundations of the bridge” .. sweetness.

hey hey and lets not all forget the infamous:

Ring a-ring o’ roses,
A pocketful of posies.
a-tissue!, a-tissue!.
We all fall down.”

That one makes me all warm inside.

Anyway, I am hungry. I love food. The more of it I eat, the better I like stuff.

Chat soon

xoxo
