Bah!
It’s my teeth again. Many years ago I chipped off a part of one of my front teef. To repair it, I had a veneer placed over it, well over both so that they would match. These little fuckers were not cheap and I had no insurance but a chipped tooth was just completely unacceptable for many reasons.
So a few months ago I went to the dentist for my routine cleaning/torture and the dentist told me that one had a crack down the middle and needed to be replaced. Also, he noticed a problem with the seal on the back of the tooth over my real tooth..Anyway, I was cool with that…whatever.I have insurance now …. so I made an appt to come back and that appt happened today.
Let’s just say that everything went well except for a few things.. suuuch as, they had to put on a temporary crown/veneer while the real one is made at the lab. That is fine and all, but according to my dentist, my teethshade is so white, like off the charts white, and the color for the temporary one is not as bright so they wouldn’t match exactly. No biggie, I thought, until I SAW it. OMG. It is like 5 shades darker. I honestly do not know WHY my teeth are so white. I never whiten them or use whitening shit..I drink short bus sized cups of coffee.. and I smoke once in a blue ball. Needless to say, the teeth are not matching. He even said that the permanent veneer may have to be color matched specially. Great. This poses a problem for me because I had like 4 photoshoots scheduled… which I have now had to cancel because I REFUSE to take any photos with multicolored teeth. No fucking way.
Ok, so the second problem. THE PAIN. Ok, not so much stabbing pain.. more like excrutiating sensitivity to air, hot, cold, tongue, lips…intense thoughts. So much pain that I had to pop a vicodin, which I HATE . It makes me feel terrible, granted not as terrible as being in horrible mouth pain but not a walk in the park either. I do not like vicodin. I have no choice though. They had to literally sand off the old veneer, exposing the sensitive nervy bits and it feels like someone running their nails down a chalkboard every time the air hits it.
On the bright side: I will no longer have a crack in my tooth. I never noticed this crack, but when he zoomed in like 5000x you could see it and you could see that it was clearly irritating my gumline. Not so good when you get your picture taken for a living. In case you aren’t aware. I am very picky about my teeth and about teeth in general. I take good care of mine because I intend on keeping them.
On another good note, I had two fabulous shoots… one on Sunday and another yesterday. Sundays shoot was an editorial. It was quite a production (well done Ellis!) with like a 15 person crew. Initially it was a little intimidating having that many people fussing about, but everyone was super cool and I ended up having such a wonderful time. I felt like a total star, The shoot took place in a Suite at the Clift Hotel which was absolutley GORGEOUS. What I loved the most though was working with such a fun and talented team. In my opinion, it worked out flawlessly. I cannot wait to get the photos and to share them with you!
Yesterdays shoot was commercial. It was for a start up similar to ustream. There was more acting involved and we even shot video which will be displayed on thier site and on their facebook ads… and I was working with three other people. It was fun. Not my typical type of job but it paid and the photographer was really cool. In fact, he has an editorial fashion shoot coming up and asked if I would be interested… HELL YES!
I was supposed to shoot tomorrow but with my tooth situation I have asked if we could reschedule, which I do not like doing. She was understanding and we are going to try to reconnect in a couple of weeks… Friday I have a fitting for a high-end couture shoot for a designer who makes fancy pants gowns/dresses. Oscar style perhaps? Hmmmm. Looking forward to that.
Anyway, that’s today in a nutsack. I am going to go for a snooze.
love,
xox

what r u doing over there?
Gosh, my teeth are the complete opposite. I don’t smoke, rarely drink coffee, etc., yet my teeth stain like mad. However, they’ve been pretty good the past few weeks. Anyhow, sucks to hear about the dental work. Sensodyne toothpaste helps a little bit. As for photos, I have one on my blog for now. I’ll let you know when the rest are ready.
I drive my aging parents up to their cabin on a lake in Minnesota. It takes 4 days. I can do it in 2 but they cant take being on the road for more than 8 hours at a time. Once we arrive I have to set up the cabin, the dock, the boats, etc. Then I come home. I go back up in Sept and drive them home. Fun, huh.
